Our Philosophy

We collaborate with whanaungatanga (family and whanau) to co-create a  curriculum that aligns with the hopes and dreams held for all children in the  community.

Guided by Te Whāriki, we:

Whakamanawa (Inspire) by:

  • Sparking the interest and desire to try something new and step outside the  comfort zone

  • Encourage and supporting, in the knowledge that everyone is deserving

  • Build on new ideas and theories about the world

  • Being a role model and sharing our gifts and talents in relevant and  meaningful ways

Ako (Learn) by:

  • Continually developing and encourage our curiosity and be open to new  experiences

  • Being aware and extending knowledge, skills and disposition as a learner

  • Having a two way street where we seek to challenge our thinking together  through dialogue

Tuputupu (Grow) through:

  • Natural unfolding development ensuring the wellbeing of all

  • Confidence to be who you are

  • Improving – opening our minds to new ways of knowing

  • Reflecting and striving to be more

Small Roll, Big Impact

Our roll is small in comparison to other Early Learning Centres, with a total of 44 children across the 2 classrooms. This means that our teacher to tamariki ratios are higher and, in turn, your child receives better learning opportunities and aroha.

The roll is spread across the two classrooms as follows;

  • 14 under 2-years old

  • 30 Over 2-years old

We often mix our age groups for portions of the day which means when the little one is ready, they can mix in with the ‘big boys & girls’ which then accelerates their growth and learning.

Kai time is whānau time

Kai time is a family affair, we all sit together to enjoy the wonderful food that Amanda has prepared.

Before we enjoy our food, we tidy up together, wash our ringaringa (hands) and say our karakia.

It’s a beautiful opportunity to connect with one another, catch up on what’s been going on and make plans for the afternoon.

Close Knit Team

We’re a small, but mighty, team of passionate and caring kaiako who genuinely consider each other and the children family.

Each of the tamariki attending Tiny Smiles Early Learning Centre are loved and cared for equally, without question.

Drop off or pick up, you will see the same kaiako faces, offering stability, consistency and comfort to everyone. We will build relationships with you, your tamariki and your wider whānau so we can understand your needs and provide a service you can love and trust.

You and your family are our why.

We pride ourselves on quality childcare with affordable fees.
